Overview
EDS01 + toripalimab is an investigational combination regimen consisting of a gene therapy and an immune checkpoint inhibitor. EDS01 is a recombinant human endostatin adenovirus designed to deliver the human endostatin gene directly into tumor cells via intratumoral injection. Once expressed, endostatin inhibits the growth of neovascular endothelial cell growth and suppresses tumor vascularization. Toripalimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, blocking its interaction with ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2 to restore the body's antitumor immune response. This combination therapy aims to leverage the anti-angiogenic effects of EDS01 to potentially enhance the efficacy of toripalimab-mediated immunotherapy in patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck tumors, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
