Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Efpegerglucagon + efpeglenatide (also known as LAPSGlucagon Combo) is a fixed-dose combination biologic therapy being developed by Hanmi Pharmaceutical for the treatment of obesity and metabolic disorders. The combination consists of two active ingredients: efpegerglucagon (a long-acting glucagon analog) and efpeglenatide (a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist), both developed using Hanmi's proprietary LAPS (Long-Acting Protein/Peptide Discovery) technology platform. The drug targets both the glucagon (GCG) receptor and the GLP-1 receptor to modulate energy balance and metabolism. In preclinical studies, the combination demonstrated therapeutic benefits in animal models of obesity, dyslipidemia, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)/fibrosis, and chronic kidney disease. Hanmi expects that by optimizing the composition between efpegerglucagon and efpeglenatide, this combination could become a next-generation anti-obesity medication with differentiated cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CVRM) benefits.
