EG12014 + paclitaxel is a combination regimen used primarily in the neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment of HER2-positive early breast cancer. EG12014 is a biosimilar of trastuzumab (Herceptin), a monoclonal antibody that binds to the HER2 receptor (ErbB2) and inhibits proliferation of tumor cells that overexpress HER2. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing chemotherapeutic agent that inhibits cell division by promoting tubulin polymerization and inhibiting microtubule depolymerization. In phase 3 clinical studies, this combination (following anthracycline-based chemotherapy) showed efficacy and safety comparable to the reference trastuzumab regimen in HER2-positive breast cancer. EG12014 was developed to provide a lower-cost alternative to Herceptin, with interchangeable efficacy and safety profiles[1][2][3][5][6][7][9].
