Overview

Eloctate + emicizumab is a combination therapy involving two agents used in the management of hemophilia A. Eloctate is a recombinant antihemophilic factor VIII (FVIII) with an Fc fusion protein, designed to replace deficient or defective FVIII and support normal blood clotting. Emicizumab (Hemlibra) is a bispecific monoclonal antibody that mimics the function of activated FVIII by bridging activated factor IX and factor X, thereby facilitating effective coagulation even in patients with FVIII inhibitors. This combination may be considered in specific clinical scenarios such as perioperative management or breakthrough bleeding on prophylactic emicizumab, but routine concomitant use for prophylaxis is generally not recommended due to overlapping mechanisms and potential safety concerns[3][9]. Both drugs are primarily indicated for bleeding prevention in hemophilia A.
