Overview
A combination therapy consisting of eltrombopag, a thrombopoietin receptor agonist, and prednisolone, a corticosteroid. This combination addresses both decreased platelet production and immune-mediated platelet destruction in thrombocytopenia. Eltrombopag works by binding to the thrombopoietin receptor, activating JAK2/STAT5 signaling pathway to increase megakaryocyte proliferation and platelet production, while prednisolone suppresses the immune response that destroys platelets.
