Overview

A combination of **elzasonan** (also known as CP-448,187) and **sertraline**. Elzasonan is an investigational small-molecule drug developed as a selective antagonist of serotonin 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors, developed by Pfizer. Sertraline is an established selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) widely used in treating depression and other mood disorders. This combination has been evaluated in clinical trials for potential enhanced antidepressant efficacy in major depressive disorder compared to sertraline (Zoloft) monotherapy. The rationale is that elzasonan's serotonin receptor antagonism may augment the serotonergic effects of sertraline, based on mechanisms involving presynaptic serotonergic modulation[1].
