Overview

EMD72000 F(ab')2-GOX conjugate is a research-stage biologic immunoconjugate designed for the MRI-based detection of tumors expressing the epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFRvIII). It consists of F(ab')2 fragments of the humanized monoclonal antibody matuzumab (EMD72000) chemically linked to the enzyme glucose oxidase (GOX). This conjugate is part of a multi-component imaging system; when co-administered with a companion F(ab')2-HRP (horseradish peroxidase) conjugate and a paramagnetic substrate (diTyr-GdDTPA), it facilitates enzyme-mediated signal amplification for high-sensitivity tumor imaging. The primary target is EGFRvIII, a mutation frequently overexpressed in glioblastoma and other aggressive cancers. The underlying antibody, matuzumab, was originally developed by Merck KGaA.
