Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of empagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, and benzbromarone, a URAT1 inhibitor. This combination has been studied for its effects on uric acid metabolism and excretion. Empagliflozin works by inhibiting SGLT2 in the kidneys, preventing glucose reabsorption and secondarily enhancing uric acid excretion. Benzbromarone primarily inhibits URAT1, directly increasing uric acid excretion. The combination has been investigated for potential synergistic effects on reducing serum uric acid levels.
