Overview
**Empagliflozin + linagliptin** is an oral fixed-dose combination of two small-molecule antidiabetic drugs marketed as **Glyxambi** and other regional brands. Empagliflozin selectively inhibits sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 in the kidney, reducing renal glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion. Linagliptin inhibits dipeptidyl peptidase-4, prolonging endogenous incretin activity and thereby increasing glucose-dependent insulin secretion while reducing glucagon secretion. The combination is used with diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both components is appropriate. It is supplied as film-coated oral tablets containing empagliflozin 10 mg or 25 mg plus linagliptin 5 mg.
