Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Madalena Association** is an investigational oral fixed-dose triple antihyperglycemic combination developed by EMS for type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains **empagliflozin**, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor that promotes urinary glucose excretion; **linagliptin**, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor that prolongs endogenous incretin activity; and **metformin**, a biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. In the EMS-sponsored Phase III MADALENA study, the single-tablet combination is compared with separately administered metformin plus empagliflozin and linagliptin.
