Empagliflozin + telmisartan is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by increasing urinary glucose excretion and also provides cardiovascular and renal protective effects. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that reduces blood pressure by selectively blocking the angiotensin II type 1 receptor, leading to vasodilation and decreased aldosterone-mediated volume expansion. The combination targets both glycemic control and blood pressure reduction, addressing comorbidities common in patients with type 2 diabetes[3][4][5][8].
