Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Enavogliflozin + metformin is a fixed-dose oral combination therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus. It combines enavogliflozin, a novel sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, with metformin, a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent. Enavogliflozin lowers blood glucose by inhibiting SGLT2 in the kidney, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion. Metformin primarily acts by stimulating AMP activated protein kinase and inhibiting hepatic gluconeogenesis, thereby decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity. The combination provides additive glycemic control benefits and has been shown to improve metabolic parameters such as body weight and lipid profiles in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus[1][3][4][5]. Developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical, it is marketed under the brand name Envlomet SR in South Korea for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus[2][7].
