Overview

Endostar + doxorubicin + ifosfamide is a combination therapeutic regimen being investigated for the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma. The regimen consists of Endostar (recombinant human endostatin), an anti-angiogenic biologic agent, and the AI chemotherapy combination, which includes the cytotoxic small molecules doxorubicin (an anthracycline) and ifosfamide (an alkylating agent). Endostar works by inhibiting tumor angiogenesis, thereby depriving the tumor of necessary blood supply, while doxorubicin and ifosfamide target the DNA of rapidly dividing cancer cells to induce cell death. This specific combination is currently being evaluated in a Phase II clinical trial led by Yong Chen at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center as an adjuvant treatment following radical resection of recurrent stage IIB/III soft tissue sarcoma.
