Overview

This inactivated vaccine is designed to provide protection against Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) caused by Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71). Developed by the Institute of Medical Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS) and licensed to Biovalys for the Thai market, the vaccine utilizes an inactivated form of the virus to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies. It is specifically indicated for the prevention of EV-A71 infection and the reduction of associated severe neurological complications, such as encephalitis and meningitis, which are primarily seen in infants and young children. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection and has been shown to be highly effective in clinical trials in preventing both mild and severe forms of the disease.
