Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An inactivated viral vaccine developed by the Institute of Medical Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS) for the prevention of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) caused by Enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection. The vaccine is produced using the KMB17 human diploid cell line, which is intended to provide a high safety profile and consistent immunogenicity. It works by inducing specific neutralizing antibodies against the EV71 virus. It was the first human diploid cell-based EV71 vaccine to be approved and marketed in China, specifically targeting children aged 6 months to 5 years.
