Overview
EOS789 + sevelamer carbonate is a combination therapy investigated for hyperphosphatemia in patients, particularly those with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis. **EOS789** is a broad-spectrum inhibitor of intestinal phosphate transporters—acting on sodium-dependent phosphate cotransporters to reduce dietary phosphate absorption in the gut. **Sevelamer carbonate** is a non-absorbed, polymeric amine-based phosphate binder that reduces dietary phosphate absorption by binding phosphate ions in the gastrointestinal tract, preventing their absorption. The combination targets hyperphosphatemia more effectively than either monotherapy. Phase 1b studies demonstrate reduced serum phosphate levels and a manageable safety profile for the combination.
