Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RNA NanoBiotics is developing an EpCAM-targeted RNA nanoparticle therapeutic for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer. The platform utilizes self-assembling RNA nanoparticles, specifically engineered using 3WJ and 4WJ RNA motifs licensed from Dr. Peixuan Guo, to selectively deliver SN-38 (the active metabolite of irinotecan) to tumor cells expressing the Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (EpCAM). By utilizing a 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway, the candidate leverages the established efficacy of the SN-38 payload while aiming to improve the therapeutic index and reduce systemic toxicities associated with conventional chemotherapy. The modular RNA nanotechnology platform allows for precise control over payload delivery and targeting, potentially offering a more effective treatment option for patients with EpCAM-positive metastatic colorectal cancer.
