Epi-Rad90 Ophthalmic System + ranibizumab is a combination therapy for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The Epi-Rad90 Ophthalmic System is a device that delivers focal strontium-90 (Sr-90) beta radiation directly to the area of the retina affected by choroidal neovascularization, usually after a vitrectomy. This is combined with intravitreal injection of ranibizumab, an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) monoclonal antibody fragment that inhibits abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the eye. This combination aims to improve outcomes in wet AMD by combining the antiangiogenic effects of ranibizumab with localized radiation to inhibit neovascular tissue[1][5].
