Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Epidoxorubicin (EDX) + carboplatin (CBDCA) is a chemotherapy combination used primarily in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. Epidoxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic with antineoplastic properties, while carboplatin is a platinum-containing compound that works by stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells. This combination exhibits nonoverlapping toxicities and has shown significant activity in advanced ovarian cancer patients. When added to platinum-based chemotherapy, epidoxorubicin has been shown to improve long-term survival in some studies.
