A combination of three polyphenolic compounds — **epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG)**, **quercetin**, and **rutin**. This combination, often referred to as EQR, has been studied primarily as a functional ingredient for metabolic health and obesity management. EQR exhibits *anti-obesity*, *antioxidant*, and *gut microbiota-modulatory* effects in preclinical (animal) models. It reduces body and adipose tissue weight, decreases liver lipid accumulation, enhances fatty acid oxidation and thermogenesis, and suppresses lipid synthesis and transport. EQR treatment also beneficially modifies gut microbiota composition and increases fecal short-chain fatty acid levels. EGCG, quercetin, and rutin are natural flavonoids/polypenols with reported antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and metabolic effects. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest this combination regulates gene expression related to lipid metabolism (PPAR-α upregulation, PPAR-γ downregulation, SIRT-1, PGC-1α) and can enhance certain beneficial bacterial taxa in the gut[2].
