Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Epigallocatechin gallate + folic acid + vitamin B12 is a multi-ingredient dietary supplement combination investigated for the treatment of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections and associated cervical lesions. The combination is designed to facilitate viral clearance and counteract viral persistence by modulating key cellular pathways. Mechanistically, the association induces apoptosis in HPV-infected cells and increases the expression of the p53 tumor suppressor gene. Simultaneously, it downregulates the expression of the viral oncogenes E6 and E7, which are markers of HPV infection and drivers of cellular transformation. Clinical studies have suggested that oral administration of this combination can lead to significant viral clearance and the resolution of cytological or histological lesions in women with persistent HPV. It is most notably marketed as the primary active component of the supplement Pervistop (which also includes hyaluronic acid).
