Overview

Epinephrine + albuterol is a combination of two adrenergic agonists, both classified as bronchodilators. Epinephrine is a non-selective adrenergic agonist that stimulates alpha and beta-adrenergic receptors, leading to bronchodilation, increased heart rate, and vasoconstriction. It is primarily used for emergency treatment of anaphylaxis and severe asthma exacerbations[6][8]. Albuterol (also known as salbutamol) is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to relieve bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)[2][10]. The combination may theoretically provide additive or synergistic bronchodilation but also increases the risk of cardiovascular side effects due to overlapping mechanisms[4][5]. This specific combination does not have an established brand name or widespread clinical use; it may be considered in special circumstances under close medical supervision.
