Overview

The combination of epirubicin, ifosfamide, and etoposide—commonly referred to as the IVE or IEV regimen—is a multi-agent chemotherapy protocol primarily used as salvage therapy for relapsed or refractory aggressive lymphomas (including both Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma). This combination is also utilized for peripheral blood stem cell mobilization in transplant-eligible patients. - **Epirubicin** is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA strands and inhibits topoisomerase II activity, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis. - **Ifosfamide** is an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA strands to prevent cell replication. - **Etoposide** is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that induces double-strand breaks in DNA during the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle. The combined mechanism results in synergistic cytotoxicity against rapidly dividing malignant cells. The regimen has demonstrated efficacy in achieving remission and facilitating stem cell collection for autologous transplantation[1][2][3][4].
