Overview

Epirubicin + vinflunine is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily as a first-line treatment in metastatic breast cancer. Epirubicin is an anthracycline antineoplastic agent that intercalates into DNA, inhibits topoisomerase II, and interferes with DNA replication and transcription, leading to cytotoxicity. Vinflunine is a vinca alkaloid derivative that disrupts microtubule dynamics, inhibiting mitosis and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. The combination aims to enhance antitumor efficacy by targeting different mechanisms of cell division and survival pathways. Clinical studies have evaluated this combination for safety, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic activity in metastatic breast cancer patients[1][4][3].
