Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eprosartan + hydrochlorothiazide is a fixed-dose combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action. Eprosartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. By inhibiting this effect, eprosartan relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic ("water pill") that reduces fluid volume by increasing urine output, further helping to lower blood pressure. The combination helps reduce the risk of complications associated with hypertension such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems[1][2][3][8].
