Overview

Eptacog alfa pegol (activated) is a long-acting, PEGylated recombinant form of activated human coagulation Factor VII. It is designed to treat and prevent bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A or B who have developed inhibitors to standard replacement therapies. By mimicking the activity of natural Factor VIIa, it promotes hemostasis through activation of the extrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade at sites of vascular injury. The drug has been studied for use in congenital bleeding disorders and acquired conditions that impair clotting. Eptacog alfa pegol (activated) was developed by Novo Nordisk as an investigational therapy with extended half-life properties due to PEGylation[1][2][5].
