Overview
Er-Zhi-Wan (also known as Erzhi Pill or Two Solstices Pill) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula consisting of two herbal ingredients: Nu Zhen Zi (Fructus Ligustri Lucidi) and Han Lian Cao (Herba Ecliptae), typically in a 1:1 ratio. Traditionally used to nourish liver and kidney yin, it is clinically investigated for various conditions including primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), osteoporosis, menopausal syndrome, and age-related muscle and bone loss. In a clinical trial sponsored by Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Er-Zhi-Wan is evaluated in combination with Shi-Xiao-San Powder and ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) for the treatment of stage II-III primary biliary cholangitis.
