Overview

**erenumab + sumatriptan** is a combination of two agents used in the management of migraine. **Erenumab** is a fully human monoclonal antibody that blocks the calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor (CGRP receptor), acting as a CGRP receptor antagonist, which is used for the prevention of migraine. **Sumatriptan** is a serotonin 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist (triptan class), used for the acute treatment of migraine by inducing cranial vasoconstriction and inhibiting the release of vasoactive neuropeptides. The combination addresses both migraine prevention (erenumab) and acute treatment (sumatriptan). Clinical pharmacology studies show that co-administration does not result in significant pharmacodynamic or pharmacokinetic interactions and is well tolerated[1][3][4][5].
