Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of two forms of vitamin D - ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Both are fat-soluble vitamins that help the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, which are essential for building and maintaining strong bones. Ergocalciferol is plant-derived while cholecalciferol is animal-derived and more closely resembles the form naturally produced in human skin when exposed to sunlight. This combination may be used in specific clinical situations such as for dialysis patients who have both vitamin D deficiency and calcitriol hormone insufficiency.
