Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A multi-ingredient oral pharmaceutical formulation combining **ergotamine** (an ergot alkaloid and vasoconstrictor acting on cranial blood vessels), **paracetamol** (also known as acetaminophen, a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system), and **caffeine** (a methylxanthine, central nervous system stimulant that enhances the vasoconstrictive effect of ergotamine and increases absorption and analgesic efficacy of paracetamol). The combination is primarily used for the **acute treatment of migraine attacks** (with or without aura) and severe headache, reducing head pain, sensitivity to light and sound, and, in combination formulations, sometimes nausea and vomiting. The combination is available under brand names (e.g., ANTIMIRGRAIN) and is indicated for adults.
