Overview

Erlotinib + bevacizumab is a combination therapy used primarily for the treatment of certain cancers, most notably non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR mutations and papillary renal cell carcinoma. Erlotinib is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively blocks the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), thereby inhibiting cancer cell proliferation. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), preventing angiogenesis and thus restricting tumor blood supply. The combination has demonstrated improved progression-free survival compared to erlotinib alone in patients with EGFR-positive NSCLC, and it is also being studied in other cancers such as papillary renal cell carcinoma[1][3][4][8].
