Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Erlotinib + trastuzumab is a combination therapy that pairs two targeted cancer medications. Erlotinib is an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks cell signaling pathways by binding to the ATP binding site of the EGFR receptor. Trastuzumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the HER2 receptor, preventing receptor dimerization and downstream signaling. The combination has shown potential benefits in treating cancers with EGFR mutations that also express HER2, as HER2 expression has been associated with resistance to EGFR-TKI therapy.
