ErVaccine's T cell-based therapy is an experimental adoptive cell therapy designed for the treatment of advanced or metastatic ovarian cancer. The therapy targets non-conventional antigens (NCAs) derived from Human Endogenous Retroviruses (HERVs), which are ancestral viral elements integrated into the human genome. While typically silent in healthy tissues, these HERV sequences can be reactivated and expressed in malignant cells, providing a unique set of tumor-specific targets. By utilizing T cells engineered or selected to recognize these HERV-derived epitopes, the treatment aims to provide a precise immune attack against ovarian cancer cells, potentially overcoming the limitations of traditional therapies. The program is currently in the preclinical development stage under ErVimmune (formerly ErVaccine).
