Overview

ErVimmune is developing an autologous or engineered T cell-based therapy targeting Human Endogenous Retrovirus (HERV)-derived tumor antigens for the treatment of advanced or metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). HERVs are remnants of ancient viral infections integrated into the human genome; while typically silent in healthy tissues, they can be reactivated and expressed as antigens in various cancers, including TNBC. This therapy is designed to program T cells to specifically recognize and eliminate tumor cells expressing these HERV-derived antigens. The program is currently in the preclinical stage and is part of ErVimmune's broader strategy to target "cold" tumors with low or moderate mutational burden using HERV-specific immunotherapies. The specific engineering format, such as whether it utilizes a T cell receptor (TCR) or chimeric antigen receptor (CAR), has not been publicly disclosed.
