Overview
Ocikill is a fixed-dose combination medication containing esomeprazole and domperidone, marketed by Octave Life Sciences for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells. Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine D2 and D3 receptor antagonist that acts as a prokinetic agent, increasing lower esophageal sphincter pressure and enhancing gastrointestinal motility. This combination is primarily indicated for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional dyspepsia, and peptic ulcers, particularly in patients whose symptoms are not adequately controlled by a PPI alone or who experience associated symptoms like nausea and bloating.
