Overview

Noesid L is a fixed-dose combination drug product containing **esomeprazole**, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and **levosulpiride**, a prokinetic agent. Developed by ADDUCO RBS, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), particularly in patients who exhibit symptoms of impaired gastric motility or those who do not achieve adequate relief with PPI monotherapy. Esomeprazole acts by covalently binding to and inhibiting the Gastric H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion. Levosulpiride acts as a selective antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors and also exhibits agonist activity at 5-HT4 receptors, which collectively enhances gastrointestinal motility and accelerates gastric emptying. This dual mechanism addresses both the acid reflux and the underlying motility issues often associated with GERD and functional dyspepsia.
