estradiol + fluoxetine

Estradiol + fluoxetine is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents, estradiol (a form of estrogen hormone) and fluoxetine (a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, SSRI). This combination has been studied primarily for the treatment of depressive symptoms in perimenopausal and menopausal women. Estradiol acts as an agonist at estrogen receptors, modulating gene expression and physiological processes related to reproductive health, vasomotor symptoms, and mood regulation. Fluoxetine inhibits the reuptake of serotonin in the central nervous system by blocking the serotonin transporter, thereby increasing synaptic serotonin levels and exerting antidepressant effects.
