This drug is a combination hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) developed by Productos Científicos S. A. de C. V. for the treatment of climacteric symptoms in postmenopausal women. It utilizes a novel technology of bioerodible, non-polymeric microspheres in an aqueous suspension to provide controlled release of both estradiol and progesterone. By delivering these steroids intramuscularly once a month, the formulation aims to maintain therapeutic plasma levels for several days, addressing symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness while potentially preventing osteoporosis. The formulation has been evaluated in Phase 1 pharmacokinetic studies comparing different dose ratios, including 1 mg estradiol with 20 mg progesterone and 0.5 mg estradiol with 15 mg progesterone.
