Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Estradiol valerate + levomefolate calcium is a combination drug consisting of estradiol valerate, an estrogen ester that acts as a prodrug for estradiol, and levomefolate calcium, the active form of folic acid. Estradiol valerate is used primarily in hormone therapy for menopausal symptoms, low estrogen states, and as part of hormonal birth control regimens. It functions as an agonist at the estrogen receptor after conversion to estradiol[8]. Levomefolate calcium is included to supplement folic acid levels and reduce the risk of neural tube defects in pregnancies conceived while on or shortly after discontinuing the product[3]. The combination may be used in oral contraceptives (often with other agents such as dienogest or drospirenone) to provide both hormonal regulation and folic acid supplementation. **Developers:** Bayer **Manufacturers:** Bayer
