Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Estradiol valerate + levonorgestrel is a combined hormone therapy used primarily for menopausal hormone replacement. It contains estradiol valerate, an estrogen, and levonorgestrel, a progestin. The combination is used to manage symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, vaginal atrophy, and to prevent osteoporosis. It works by supplementing the body with hormones that decline during menopause. Estrogen acts on estrogen receptors to alleviate menopausal symptoms and protect bone density; progestin (levonorgestrel) protects the endometrium from hyperplasia caused by unopposed estrogen[1][4][5].
