Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Estradiol valerate + norgestrel is a combination hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medication containing two female sex hormones: estradiol valerate (an estrogen) and norgestrel (a progestogen). The estradiol component is equivalent to the natural hormone and possesses the same properties, while norgestrel has an effect similar to the natural corpus luteum hormone progesterone. This combination is primarily used for hormone replacement therapy in menopausal women to help restore hormonal balance after the ovaries cease producing these hormones naturally. The medication is typically supplied as a sequential regimen with white tablets containing only estradiol valerate (2 mg) followed by light brown tablets containing both estradiol valerate (2 mg) and norgestrel (0.5 mg).
