Overview

This is a **combination drug** comprised of estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone, intended to provide replacement for all three major ovarian-derived hormones. Such combinations are primarily used in *hormone replacement therapy (HRT)* for the management of menopausal symptoms, particularly when symptoms are not sufficiently controlled by estrogen and progesterone alone. Estrogens act mainly as agonists at the estrogen receptor, alleviating vasomotor symptoms and preventing bone loss. Progesterone is added to reduce the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer in women with an intact uterus. Testosterone may be included off-label for symptoms such as low libido that persist despite standard HRT, though it is not approved for this use in many regions. There is currently no widely approved or licensed pharmaceutical product that combines all three hormones (estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone) in a single, standardized dosage form for use in hormone replacement therapy[1][2][4]. Instead, custom compounded preparations may be used in clinical practice in select cases, or estrogens and progesterone are used together, and testosterone is added separately[1][4][8].
