ENIA11 (brand name TuNEX) is a biosimilar of etanercept, a recombinant fusion protein that functions as a soluble tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor. Developed by Mycenax Biotech and TSH Biopharm, ENIA11 consists of the extracellular ligand-binding portion of the human 75 kDa (p75) TNF receptor linked to the Fc portion of human IgG1. It works by binding to TNF-alpha and TNF-beta, thereby preventing their interaction with cell surface TNF receptors and inhibiting the downstream inflammatory cascade. In clinical practice, ENIA11 is often administered in combination with conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), such as methotrexate, to treat patients with rheumatoid arthritis who have had an inadequate response to DMARD monotherapy. This combination approach aims to achieve better disease control and improve clinical outcomes in inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
