ethanol + cisplatin

Ethanol + cisplatin is a non-standard combination of two agents, ethanol and cisplatin. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug widely used to treat various cancers, including sarcomas, carcinomas (such as ovarian and lung cancer), lymphomas, and germ cell tumors. Its mechanism involves covalent binding to DNA via the formation of platinum-DNA adducts, leading to intra-strand and inter-strand cross-links that disrupt DNA function and inhibit DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis.
