Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AG200 (specifically AG200-15, marketed as Twirla) is a combined hormonal contraceptive (CHC) transdermal patch developed by Agile Therapeutics in collaboration with Corium. It delivers a daily dose of the estrogen ethinyl estradiol and the progestin levonorgestrel. The patch utilizes the proprietary SKINFUSION technology, a multi-layer drug-in-adhesive system designed to deliver hormones through the skin over a seven-day period. AG200 works primarily by suppressing gonadotropins, which inhibits ovulation and thickens cervical mucus to prevent pregnancy. It was FDA-approved in 2020 for use in women of reproductive potential with a BMI < 30 kg/m². Additional pipeline variations include AG200-ER for extended-cycle regimens and AG200-15 (SmP) for shorter, lighter periods.
