Overview

Etodolac + cyclobenzaprine is an oral fixed-dose combination of two small-molecule drugs: **etodolac**, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor to reduce pain and inflammation, and **cyclobenzaprine**, a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant structurally related to tricyclic antidepressants, which works primarily via antagonism of serotonin 5-HT2A receptors, histamine H1 receptors, and alpha 1 adrenergic receptors to alleviate muscle spasms and pain. This combination is being developed to treat pain, especially postoperative pain, in adults and elderly patients. The drug has undergone phase III clinical development, but at least one phase III study was terminated due to recruitment difficulty[3].
