Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Twafyline (etofylline + theophylline) is a combination bronchodilator injection developed and marketed by Walker's Pharmaceuticals. It contains etofylline and theophylline, which are methylxanthine derivatives. The combination is indicated for the treatment and prevention of bronchospasm associated with asthma, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Etofylline and theophylline work synergistically to relax the smooth muscles of the bronchial passages and widen the airways, thereby improving airflow and relieving symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
