Etomidate + thiopental is a combination of two intravenous anesthetic agents used for the induction of general anesthesia. Etomidate is an imidazole derivative that acts as a non-barbiturate hypnotic agent, while thiopental is a barbiturate with ultrashort-acting central nervous system depressant properties. Both drugs induce hypnosis rapidly but have no analgesic activity.
