Overview

Etoposide + carboplatin + pegfilgrastim is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of small cell lung cancer and other malignancies. Etoposide and carboplatin are cytotoxic chemotherapy agents that work by interfering with DNA synthesis and function, leading to the destruction of rapidly dividing cancer cells. Pegfilgrastim is a long-acting recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analogue that stimulates the production, proliferation, and maturation of neutrophils to reduce the risk of infection associated with chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. This combination is not curative but aims to shrink tumors, alleviate symptoms, and prevent complications from low white blood cell counts[1][2][5][6].
