Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Etoposide + ifosfamide + mesna is a chemotherapy combination regimen used primarily for the treatment of soft tissue sarcomas, Ewing sarcoma/Ewing family of tumors, and testicular cancer. Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that destroys quickly dividing cells. Ifosfamide is an alkylating agent that also targets rapidly dividing cells. Mesna is not a chemotherapeutic drug but serves as a uroprotective agent that prevents ifosfamide from irritating the bladder lining and causing hemorrhagic cystitis.
